These three posters are a direct translation of the general theme of my mood board which was the French Nouvelle Vague movement of the 1960s. Since the New Wave was a cinematographic movement after all, I thought it was only right to make three posters for three different films. I purposefully chose from three different directors : Jean-Luc Godard, Jacques Demy and Agnes Varda because of the big influence the visuals their work has had on me and my general artistic references. In the Nouvelle Vague, the directors seeked to break traditional cinematic conventions by using techniques such as visual experimentation which inspire the display and overlay that I did. It was also inspired by screen printing art as I would’ve liked to print them or have a physical copy of them to take the project further. Additionally, the colour choices were made with that in mind ; I chose two bold colours to illustrate each movie, blue and red for Pierrot Le Fou, pink and yellow for Les Demoiselles de Rochefort and green and orange for Le Bonheur. There always being a duo & there always being a rectangle at the center, overlaying the characters is a deliberate choice to make the collection more cohesive but also to represent the relationship between the characters. The colours also symbolise this. Red for the first being as it is a tumultuous and complicated romantic relationship. Pink for the second as they are two sisters, twins, who are hopeful and dream of a future together in Paris and finally green for the third one is a secret relationship between a man and his mistress in which jealousy is involved.
CREATIVE WRITING
Annotations :
For this part of the assignment, I decided to throw myself a challenge and write a poem. In my education, at school, poetry was always thought as something to be analysed and not created. I had very little knowledge on how to even start a proper poem, let alone write 600 words worth of it. So my first step was to read it. Grabbing all that I could find, I read Nabokov’s “selected poems” which I own, followed it by some Dylan Thomas, Allen Ginsberg, Robert Frost, etc… truly any thing I could put my hands on, all of which I found at LCC’s library. I was also inspired by Bob Dylan and Patti Smith’s music as they are part of my favourite songwriters. A specific verse of my poem is a direct reference to Bob Dylan’s ‘Mr. Tambourine Man ‘. Another mentions Patti Smith by name, as well as use the word ‘sublimation’, used in her song ‘Dancing Barefoot ‘ and I slipped the words ‘Just Kids ‘, referencing her famous novel with that same title, my favourite book. The repeating sentence opener ‘As I remember’ and the conclusion of the poem are also a nod to the amazing Joan Baez and her masterful song ‘Diamonds and Rust ‘.
Thanks to the different inspiration, I was able to write this poem called ‘Years of Whirl ‘, about the numerous years of dance that I did. Dance has an incredibly important part in who I am today, honestly more than what I would care to admit. I went through everything in that art form and it taught me a lot whilst also affecting me, sometimes in positive ways, sometime in negatives. Different negatives like the impact it can have in ones self esteem and/or body image and the multiple positives like the simple love for this art form and the way it lets you completely forget the world around you. This poem navigates that complicated relationship, but ultimately my love for this art.

INTRODUCTION
“So welcome back to my blog, in this episode we will be discussing film photography with my dear friend Mariana”
Jingle already worked on E1, this time better sound quality :
Fade into Patti Smith interview in Brussels 1976 while slow rock song intro plays in the background (Dazed and Confused – Led Zeppelin). We can hear her say:
“…it’s all feeling. Rock & roll really allows me to be so free yet very constructive, you know? Art is very important to me, art is what… Artists are like the guardians of history, they’re the guardians of the spirit”
Once the last word is said, Dazed and Confused’s gets louder, and the guitar riff starts playing
MAIN POINTS
Fade into :
“I am here with Mariana, a CSM student in Culture, Criticism and Curation and she is also a film lover !
(All that is in red had to be cut because of time limit )
- So my first question for you Mariana is when and why did you first start film photography
- What is your favourite gear
- Your favourite camera
- Your favourite kind of film

Annotations :
In this podcast, my friend Mariana and I discuss film photography, a passion we both share. As we both love this topic very much, the original cut of this audio lasts around 10min, this means the version that you have here was subject to a lot of editing, keeping only the highlights of our conversation. Wishing to keep this podcast episode natural, I didn’t want our conversation to follow a strict script which would make our exchange awkward. I prepared multiple question for my guest, all of which I ask on the original cut of the episode but to meet the time limit, I had to make the hard choice of only keeping the main question that resulted in the most discussion between us both and that would be the most interesting for the audience to reflect on too.
VIDEO
Annotations :
The idea behind this video is quite simple : it follows an artists’ process of finding a reference and then drawing it. My friend Naomi, who is also the protagonist of this video, often sits in public spaces and draws from live situations, a common exercise for a lot of artists. I wanted to showcase the focus needed to do even a simple drawing in such locations by emphasising the sound of people talking in the background and adding music, all whilst you can hear her crayon scratching more and more until the drawing is finished, drowning out the sound of the crowd. The music chosen is Stan Getz and Chet Baker live in Stockholm 1983, this choice was to add ambiance but also came from the location itself, as the cafe where this was filmed becomes a jazz bar on Wednesdays and Saturdays . You may also notice that, although there is a variety of different angles, the shots themselves are all relatively still, this was a deliberate choice. Drawing doesn’t require a lot of physical movement but requires mental effort, that is what I also wanted to emphasise with this work.
